How to export your Timeline on iPhone
  1. Open the Google Maps app and tap your profile photo.
  2. Go to Your Timeline.
  3. Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner.
  4. Select Export Timeline data.
  5. Choose a date range and tap Export.
  6. Share the resulting JSON file here.
Use a run from Strava, Garmin or Apple Health (GPX)

Almost any run tracker can save a run as a GPX file. Export one, then choose it above.

Strava (open strava.com in a web browser):

  1. Open the run you want.
  2. Click the three-dot menu (...).
  3. Choose Export GPX.

Garmin Connect:

  1. Open the activity.
  2. Open the menu (gear or three dots).
  3. Choose Export to GPX.

Apple Health / Fitness (iPhone):

  1. Apple does not export GPX on its own.
  2. Install a free app like HealthFit or RunGap.
  3. Open your workout there and export it as GPX.

Filter by time of day
Only include points within a daily time window (e.g. a morning run)

Larger formats take longer to create and produce larger files.
Advanced · GPS filtering
Conservative filtering ignores only short, impossible round trips. Your Timeline file is never changed.

Before loading the map

Your Timeline file is never uploaded. The map provider receives the tile coordinates for map areas in the selected journey, along with normal network information such as your IP address. This may reveal places in your Timeline to the map provider.
